DNA helps you create your blue print for the future. It helps you you re-orient your life basis your strengths and passions. Further, it encourages you to take action, NOW!
Lance Tanaka is the founder and creator of the DNA program. He has coached over 800 senior executives from the worlds topmost professional and financial services firms.
What could be the outcomes?
The DNA program can have several outcomes.
In the short run, you should expect some minor course corrections. Typically, you may continue with your current role but be able to bring more meaning to it by doing something additional or deleting something that is not working for you. Do not under-estimate these minor corrections. Over time, you will see the many small changes add up to something very significant.
It could lead to a sideways shift within your organisation. For example, you may decide to pursue a different role within your existing organisation that adds more meaning to your life as compared to your current role.
In a few instances, you may seek a new role in another organisation.
Some of you make experience a big shift. You may take up a completely new vocation. This is an extreme impact but you may find yourself ready to take the plunge as you are now clear in what you want from your life.
How does DNA work?
The DNA program is a self-help program.

The key steps are as follows:
Step 1: Get familiar with the program. In this section, you will get a complete overview of the program. An introductory video will take you through the DNA program and the process that you will be going through to help you bring about the desired transformation.
Step 2: Sign up for the program. Once you sign-up for the program:
- You will get access to the online program.
- You will be allocated an online coach. The coach would help you navigate through the DNA process. In addition, you can seek help from the coach for any questions that you may have while going through the program. All interactions with the coach will be on email.
Step 3: Pre-Work:
You will provided with a DNA manual that provides an in-depth understanding of all the DNA process. You need to download an exercise worksheet that you will be using for going through the various stages of the DNA program.
Step 4: The DNA process
(a) Identify your elements:
You begin the program by identifying your passions and strengths.
In terms of action plan, read pages 1 to pages 25 of the manual and watch video 1 – DNA Elements.
You will be sending the list to your coach at the end of Day 20.
The coach will go through your list and combine them into 3-5 elements.
(b) Build Specificity:
In the next phase, you will build some specificity around these elements by defining the Who, What, Where and When. This is termed as the “Elements Drill down” section.

On Day 40, you will submit the worksheet with the completed “Elements – Drill Down” section.
(c) Action:
The coach would have reverted to you with some inputs regarding the specific elements and the drill down exercise. In this section, we focus on Action. This is where the program is very different from the others. The focus of the DNA Process is to help you take specific actions that move you closer to your dreams and goals.

After completing the Action worksheet for another 20 days, forward the same to your coach.
Step 5: Go Forth
The key to progress is incorporating what matters to you in life in your daily habits. In this section, Lance shares with you the MBTA framework that can help you give up your old habits and develop new ones easily. Yes, you can change any of your old habits easily!
DNA is not a one-time exercise that you complete and leave it. You need to keep revisiting the worksheet from time to time and see if you are making progress with the key elements that you have finalised for yourself. Over time, you will witness significant changes in your life as you reach the tipping point with respect to each of your elements.
